The German company Döhler is expanding its refrigeration production.
Döhler is a renowned producer and marketer of natural ingredients, systems and technology-driven ingredient solutions for the food and beverage industry.
In 2019, the Dutch company acquired the majority shareholding in Zumos Catalano Aragoneses S.A. (ZUCASA), a manufacturer of juices, purees and concentrates of sweet fruit, vegetables and vegetables located in the region of Fraga (Huesca), specifically in the epicentre of the sweet fruit producing area par excellence in Spain located between Huesca and Lleida.
Döhler intends to technologically modernise the plant in order to increase its production capacity and develop new products. This strategy includes the expansion of existing cold production by adding a water cooler (better known as a chiller) to increase the plant’s refrigeration capacity.
It is also considered that the best option is to install a new refrigeration system that will increase both the refrigeration production and the condensing capacity.
The plant takes a leap in quality with this increase in cooling capacity with the installation of two Howden compressors model XRV204 with an electrical power of 181.8 kW per compressor, for a total of 363.6 kW for a better quality of its products and plant services.
Following its green ecological policy, both parties promoted the use of an ecological refrigerant such as ammonia (NH3) with a GWP (Global Warming Potential) and CO2 emission of 0. As a solution, when dissipating the heat, it was decided to extend the condensation stage in order to lower the temperature from 42 to 35ºC. This is achieved by means of TEVA (Técnicas Evaporativas S.L.) model CVA920 condensers,
On the other hand, it is foreseen in the future, the possible installation of a new concentrator, so that it will be necessary to provide a greater cooling capacity to the installation due to the fact that the current one will not be able to satisfy the new cooling needs.
