ISOFRED, a company specialized in managing cold temperatures, designed and installed the recently opened plant in Fraga (Huesca) that, in this first phase, is made up of 800,000m3 of refrigerated volume. The installations are made to preserve products used to make fruit juices, such as cremogenates and concentrates, creating an added valued option in one of the main fruit cultivating regions in Catalonia and Spain.
The cooling circuit is based on a flooded ammonia system that has three 220kW rotary screw compressors with continuous regulation of capacity from 10 to 100%.
The main cooler used stands out, on top of its great performance, for its ecological nature. Because the system doesn’t have an effect on the environment, it doesn’t affect the ozone layer or contribute to global warming. It is an all-natural product that decomposes in the atmosphere in hydrogen and nitrogen. In order to avoid high concentrations of the same substance, which could end up being toxic, it confines all of its contents in the machine room. The rest of the cooling systems are pumped in a secondary cooling system, either monoethylene glycol or monopropylene glycol, depending on the application (non-food industry use and food industry use, respectively). The cooling plant’s automatic control uses energy-saving systems like condensation and floating evaporation.
ISOFRED is located in Lleida, which is a city in the center of one of the largest fruit cultivating areas in the Iberian Peninsula. We have a broad range of experience in industrial cooking, air conditioning and pre-cooling and preservation systems, both in rooms with more normal conditions and controlled atmosphere conditions used to store fruits.
