One of the most emblematic pig slaughterhouses in the province of Lleida, founded in the 40s, has completely renovated its installations by removing hundreds of kilos of HFC refrigerant, a composition that damages the ozone layer as well as contributing to global warming, makes a total renovation of the facilities by removing hundreds of kilos of refrigerant HFC, a composition that damages the ozone layer apart from contributing to global warming and ends a cycle opened a few years ago when it included ammonia in a small part of its facilities, and finally joins the green policy with the use of ammonia for its production and preservation of products, These tasks were complicated at the time of design and execution, as the machine room in question has a very specific useful surface area, which Isofred has had to make an effort to fit all the equipment, recipients and cannons to the millimetre for correct operation.
In 2017, the company located in Vallfogona de Balaguer started this ecological stage with the introduction of CO2 in the subcritical stage through its -30ºC freezing tunnels with a capacity of 2000 kg/day and a -20ºC freezing chamber.
Isofred has been assessing this project from the beginning, thinking that the thermodynamic, ecological and economical properties of these refrigerants for its customers would provide very positive benefits for the slaughterhouse.
This results in a definitive and sustainable solution.
